Stephannie started dancing at the age of 3, and never stopped. In her competitive dance years, she travelled to New York, Orlando, and New Orleans winning many awards with her troupe. She also performed in many 'industrials', and at the CNE over the years.
She is a member of the BATD (British Association of Teachers of Dance)1987, the CDTA (Canadian Dance Teachers Association)1991. Upon graduation from secondary school, Stephannie received the Beta Sigma Phi scholarship towards education in the arts, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree in Dance from York University(1993) where she was specialized in the performance and choreography stream.
Stephannie has worked within the music industry in the past with various recording artists from Universal and EMI Records preparing them for live performances and video shoots. She has worked on choreography projects in live theatre such as 'Cabaret', and also for Silicon Graphics Canadian Conference show in San Fransico.
Stephannie was the recipient of the DEA (Dance Educators of America) Choreographers Award in 2000 (New York) and 2002 (Las Vegas). She has taught dance workshops in the Durham and Toronto School Board for many years, and has also adjudicated the CNE Rising Star competition since 1993.
Stephannie is very dedicated to her students, dance, and has been a proud faculty member of the Tap Shoes and Tutus Dance School since th 1991/92 Season.
The 2010/2011 dance season will mark Heather van den Broek’s 8th year with Tapshoes and Tutus. She currently teaches ballet at the Pre-ballet, Junior and Intermediate levels.
Heather holds an Associate Diploma from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (A.I.S.T.D.) where she taught modern dance and ballet for 6 years. Heather also holds a diploma from Ryerson Polytechnic in Dance Theatre-Teaching Stream (pre-registered with the Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D.)). Heather has instructed dance at the Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre, East York Skating School, Excel Summer Skating School, Wellington County Board of Education and the Royal City School of Ballet.
Alexandra Ashley is a singer, actor, dancer and choreographer. She began her first dance class at age 3 and has studied ballet, jazz, modern, tap and hip hop. She has studied at at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Los Angeles, Banff Summer Program, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, the National Ballet School, Dance Zone, and Coastal Dance. She has also been a competitive dancer travelling to New York City and she has also performed at Disney World in Florida.
She has recently taken workshops with internationally renowned choreographer Mia Michaels in Contemporary.
Alex has performed with Lenny De La Pena of DoDat Entertainment, Hali’s Angels, Coastal Theatre, Neptune Theatre in Nova Scotia and was a dancer in the recent movie to be released by Disney, Camp Rock 2- The Final Jam.

Welcome Alanna! After an extensive search to fill the graceful shoes of our beloved ballet teacher, Heather, while she is on maternity leave, Alanna Budhoo has joined T & T and will be teaching our Saturday ballet program at Masaryk Cowan Community Centre, and our Tuesday ballet program at the Sorauren Fieldhouse.
Alanna began dancing at the age of 8, when she attended Claude Watson School for the Arts in Toronto, studying Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts. Alanna became a dance major at C.W.S.A and studied various styles of dance including Jazz, Ballet, Tap, hip-hop and modern. Alanna continued as a dance major at Earl Haig S.S. to focus on Ballet and Contemporary. During this time, Alanna took private ballet lessons in the Cecchetti Method and has completed her intermediate in Cecchetti from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.
Upon completion of high school Alanna attended York University to graduate with a B.A in Sociology. During her time at university Alanna performed with the York University Dance Team and has gone back since graduating to coach the team and choreograph routines.
Alanna currently works with UGot Dance Canada, where she is a program representative and dance instructor. In her position she markets the programs goals to provide all children the chance to dance. She passes on her love of dance to children teaching at various schools and childcare centres throughout Ontario. She also teaches at Synergy Performing Arts Academy in Brampton, ON instructing in Ballet, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Tap.
One who loves to work with children, her positive attitude has led her to achieve much success in her chosen field. And she will continue to teach dance as long as she can see her students smiling faces.
